PRODUCT REVIEW: GEFU SPIRELLI

Today I want to share one of my ESSENTIAL Healthy Girl Kitchen cooking tools… The Gefu Spirelli! If you are a pasta lover (like me) this gadget is calling your name. You can have guilt free pasta (minus the carbs) as often as you like thanks to this clever invention!
A few months ago I became VERY intrigued with ‘Zoodles’ AKA zucchini noodles. There was just one problem – I had no idea how to make them! One day I walked into a homeware store and an assistant was demonstrating the Spirelli. I stood there in AWE as I watched a zucchini be turned into perfect and oh so healthy noodles! This is such an easy cooking tool to use. The best way to describe how it works is just like using a sharpener to sharpen a pencil. The zucchini acts as the pencil and the Spirelli acts as the sharpener. As you “sharpen” the zucchini, the noodles are made. Other veggies that can be used are cucumber and carrots (sweet potatoes can be used too but they need to be cut down to “pencil” shapes).
To prepare my Zoodles I usually blanch them and then drain. Once drained I drizzle a touch of olive oil, Himalayan sea salt, pepper and a little veggie spice. Now is the fun part, let your creativity flow and pair with some of your favorite toppings!
