Hello Everyone! FINALLY! The secret is out! I am SO excited to share our February 2015 Men’s Health Cover. We are both ecstatic with the outcome!

I’’ll never forget the moment that Dale and I got the email to do the cover. It was about three weeks before the date of the photo shoot (as well as our wedding) and Dale had recently broken his leg due to a soccer accident. At first we were both a little nervous because of the severity of his break BUT we decided to grab this opportunity with both hands!

Something that I really want to talk about is how I got cover ready! In the past when I have had photo shoots it usually involved horribly strict dieting and ridiculously intense training! Towards the end of 2013 and part of 2014 I decided to enter into fitness shows and bikini competitions. During this period of time I ended up pushing my body to the extreme. I was determined to achieve perfection and became obsessed with what I ate. I began to lose the positive, content and balanced girl that I always have been. Thankfully I very quickly realized that my health, happiness and mental well-being was far more important that trying to grow my booty and have abs! In preparing for this cover I by no means was going to go to any extremes! The plan was to stick to my normal everyday healthy lifestyle and I wanted to set a good example to the girls who I knew would be seeing the cover and reading the interview inside.

Here is what I did:

  • Ate three main meals a day (including lean protein, healthy fats and good carbs) and I had two snacks a day (ranging from fruit, nuts, Greek yoghurt, smoothies or hummus and veggies to name a few).
  • No food groups were cut out of my diet.
  • I didn’t stop myself from enjoying a glass of wine or treat when I felt like it.
  • I trained between 5 –- 6 days a week including my favourite forms of training; HIIT workouts, cardio and plyometric exercises.

My goal was to simply go back to doing what makes my soul happy and to promote a positive body image. I feel that there is a huge amount of pressure on girls today to look unrealistically perfect. It is so important to embrace who you are, to love your beautiful body (cellulite included) and to always stay true to who you are.

With love from me to you, Andene Xx

I would love to hear your feedback, Gorgeous!
