A rested body is a healthy body
“A rested body is a healthy body” is what my recent holiday at Melia Zanzibar (more about this amazing resort coming SOON!) taught me.
REAL TALK: Even though my system crashed & I had the worst head cold ever throughout our stay (totally NOT ideal!) – I have returned home with a MUCH more relaxed & healthier body. I have been wondering what the reason for this could be & can only put it down to the complete forced relaxation that happened because of being sick. For 6 days I did the absolute bare minimum to help my immune system recover.
The important lesson that I have taken from all this is that if I want a healthier body I need to commit to daily relaxation.
With this intention in mind, over the last couple of week’s I have set out to:
- Balance out intense exercise days with less intense exercise days. So some days I do killer workouts that I adore with Unjaded Fitness & other days I do a beautiful private yoga practice with Yoga with Megan / walks in nature / gentle cardio or even just a light stretch & yoga flow at home – really enjoying Jessica Olie’s Lets Start Yoga e-book guides.
- I have committed to taking the time to do something relaxing for myself everyday (‘unplugging’) to help ease the daily stresses of life & particularly being an entrepreneur – this could be reading a book, meditating, spending time with a friend, catching up with family, getting a sports massage or going for a beach walk.
- Creating strict phone boundaries – not checking my phone as soon as I wake up each morning, turning my phone off in the evenings & setting timers during the day so that I am not constantly on my phone!
