What You Need to Know About Healthy Treats
These days, more healthy treat options are popping up everywhere you look! And make no mistake Gorgeous, many of these yummy bites are far better for you than the traditional sugar laden and processed versions. But just because a treat is nutrient-rich and healthier does it mean that you can have as much as you like?
While it is amazing to see the world slowly shifting towards a healthier way of living, I see numerous healthy treats out there which consist of large amounts of:
- Natural sugars such as dates, coconut sugar, maple syrup, agave and fruit.
- Healthy fats, mostly in the form of nuts
REAL TALK! Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing! Don’t be fooled. Even though something is natural, wholesome and healthier for you, it does not mean that you can go wild and eat as much as you want.
At the end of the day – if you over consume sugar (even natural sugar) and you consume more calories than what you burn (yes, even if it is wholesome calories) you will not be able to lose weight, maintain weight or achieve your health goals.
Moderation and balance is the key to lasting health! Therefore, when you make or eat a yumo healthy treat, please do so mindfully and in moderation. What I have learnt over the last few years is that in order to live a happy and healthy lifestyle, you cannot restrict and deprive yourself of the things that you love and enjoy.
